Our floors:
Cork ~ more specifically from recycled wine bottle stoppers mixed with cork from regenerating cork trees. Cork can be re-harvested every 9-10 years and some trees have been known to produce cork for well over 150 years.
Bamboo ~ Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on Earth and can grow six or more inches a day, grows without pesticides or fertilizers; and it requires very little water to grow. Bamboo reaches its mature harvestable height in 3 to 5 years (compared to 20 years for most softwood); generates up to 35% more oxygen than hardwood trees, and absorbs 4 times more carbon than hardwood. Bamboo can detoxify wastewater (due to its high nitrogen consumption) and improve soil quality. After being treated, bamboo forms a very hard wood which is both lightweight and exceptionally durable.
